GOC 40 Days of Prayer

Thank you for committing to pray “regularly” for GOC over the next 40 days!

DAY 40 | DECEMBER 10

“Lord teach us how to pray?” Luke 11:1

There is a story about a grandfather who overheard his granddaughter praying DEAR GOD a,b,c,d,e,f,g, through the whole alphabet all the way to z amen! The grandfather said, “Honey why were you praying the alphabet?” The granddaughter replied, I didn’t know what to say so I figured I would let God put the letters together however He saw fit.”

Like the little girl, learning how to pray has been a long journey for me too. I’m learning that prayer is not just about my agenda but more about getting into God’s presence and finding His agenda.

As we end the 40 days of prayer, if you desire to keep praying but don’t know how to pray on your own, start by reading your Bible. BUT DON’T HURRY! Meditate on the scriptures until God speaks to you. Words and phrases will jump off the page. That’s when you need to stop reading, underline those words and start praying your own words from your heart. Thank God in prayer for what He showed you.

In time, your relationship with God will deepen and your heart will begin to align with God’s heart. You will be more interested in praying for God’s will rather than your own will. Prayer will become the catalyst to divine appointments as God opens your eyes and allows you to daily join Him in His work. Prayer finally becomes the difference between the best you can do and the best God can do.

Like the disciples, when you get stuck and don’t know what to pray ask God to teach you. After all, He is only a prayer away.

My prayer is that you continue the 40 days of prayer to day 41, 42, 43 and don’t stop.
